Review:

A very cute and sweet book about helping your friends and seeing the best in people. It’s told to be a book for middle schoolers but I honestly see this as more of an early elementary aged book. It can be a good read aloud for a 5-6 year-old child as there are pictures and a childish plotline but it can also be an independent read for an older child. This book is definitely not for a middle schooler as the plot line is silly and childish, honestly, it played like an episode in a wacky kids cartoon. There really isn’t much to say about this book other than it gives good messages at helping others and being true to yourself.

Opinion:

I recommend this book as a read aloud for younger kids and an independent read for older ones. It’s a good way to introduce forgiveness and why someone might be mean to young children.

Content:

  • Character exclaims “drat” after losing a staring contest

  • Character exclaims “why are those blasted birds still here?”

  • A little ningbing (rodent-like animal) makes a few mean remarks about the brains of some of the creatures (minuscule brains, bird brains) He warms up and is nicer in the end.
